Addressing the audience at today’s event — Billbergia Group representative and development director Rick Graf said Skytower would be finished to the maximum build height allowed in Brisbane’s CBD — 274.3m.
“We are at the maximum height that the city can grow to,” Mr Graf said.
“(Lord Mayor) Graham Quirk is keen for the city to get a higher height limit in the future, but that’s subject to negotiation with civil aviation authorities.
“At the moment this is as far as it can go and we’re delighted to have reached it.”
Designed by NRA Co-Lab, the 90-storey tower (with rooftop ammenty on level 91) bestows an extraordinary level of exclusive amenity from the world’s highest infinity pool at its crown to its multiple recreation decks.
Skytower architect Noel Robinson confirmed it was the biggest project his firm had ever worked on and said the complexities and innovations were enormous.
He said they had to overcome hurdles around technical aviation height restrictions with residents, who started moving in a year ago, occupying large portions as it continued towards it final 274.3m height.
“The unique structural design and planning, eliminates the need for mass damper tanks at the top of the building, which reduces the swaying effect and adds two additional saleable floors,” Mr Robinson said.

“The views are to die for and encapsulate the Gold Coast Towers through to Moreton Bay, Stradbroke Island, the Gold Coast and the Great Dividing Range.”
Brisbane Open House chair and Queensland Government architect Malcolm Middleton said the weekend was an opportunity to explore the architecture of the city and how design changes as the city grows.
“Brisbane Open House is proudly delivering an enhanced program of events, which allows all of us to explore the fabric of our great city,” Mr Middleton said.
“The weekend gives visitors the opportunity to celebrate our built environment, heritage places and unlock the passion of our design community.”
Now in its ninth year, BOH offers an opportunity to access and experience some of the city’s most treasured landmarks and rich heritage, unlocking 114 of the city’s most-loved and admired buildings to the public.
